Lichen/Charrilah (چھڑیلہ, اشنہ، دوالی، دواله، چھیل چھبیلہ، شیلج، پریو) is also known as Stone flower and Parmelia Perlata. It is a native of Indian subcontinentand other tropical parts of the world where grazing is casual and rains are heavy. Lichen is small shrub that normally grows on the rocks and sometimes looks like a combination of algae and fungus. Usnic acid is the key active component of Stone Flowers, which have antimicrobial and antifungal properties.
Lichens are an important ingredient in herbal compositions for the treatment of seminal weakness and male sexual debility.
It is also administered in fungal infections in women, like vaginal candidiasis.
