Organic Kitchen’s Bay leaf/tez paat or Tez Patta is an excellent aromatic spice that is used since ages to enhance the aroma of various dishes. Fresh or dried bay leaves are used in cooking for distinctive flavor and fragrance. The leaves are often used to flavor soups, stews and yakhnis. Bay leaf is typically used to season long cooking dishes like soups, pulao, biryani, nihari, gravies, pasta sauce or even a simple pot of rice. The key is to have atleast a little liquid for the bay leaf to infuse and heat to get the process going.
Bay leaves are very tough and have a woody stem. The edges of the leaf are quite sharp and do not break down well during cooking. If you swallow a fresh or dried or a cooked bay leaf it can stuck in your throat, since bay leaves are very hard to chew therefore you should always remove them from the dish before serving it.
